(Gives them some slight bonus for the environment as they'll stand there for a short while.) Planting flowers around them is a nice touch, too. :( However, always bury your own colonists in nice sarcophagi so the living ones can get a nice Mood Boost from undertaking the "Visit Grave" activity. It's sad, but colonists will no longer visit the graves of buried Raiders/enemies for a Mood Boost. (Mood debuff for certain pawns.)Ī Crematorium is a good thing to have, but it's not "critical." Just manage its power and on/off status as needed when you have enough surplus stuffs to construct it. It's very efficient and you don't have to manage butchering human corpses to make kibble out of them. (Just keep pawns from having to see it, preferably using a Bloodthirsty/Psychopath pawn to haul human corpses to it.) if you keep it separate, keep it refrigerated, and allow your carnivores access to it, they will eat the corpses for their food needs. If you have carnivore tamed animals, though, dedicating a room to storing "fresh" Raider/Insect dead is a good idea. It's generally a good practice to have a Rotting Corpse zone if you're not cremating/burying the dead. ![]() As long as there is no other Zone that allows Rotting, no pawn is going to go collect Rotting corpses and that pile of corpses can decompose out of site of any pawns. Then, once that was done, I'd delete the Zone. One thing I've done in the past when I didn't have a Crematorium and didn't want a Stockpile wholly devoted to rotting corpses is to create a Storage Zone in an out-of-site location on the map, only allow Rotting corpses in it, and temporarily increased a Haul pawn's priority to scoop up all the corpses in their Allowed zone.
